Freezing Blueberries

I drink a fruit and Greek yogurt smoothie about five times a week. I swear it is why I have not been sick in over two years. I even shake my students hands as they enter my room every day, which is about 100 middle school kids, every day. So, I stand by the vitamins in this stuff!

I normally use about 1/3 cup of orange juice, a scoop of plain, non fat Greek yogurt and a cup and a half of frozen fruit. The combinations are endless. However, blueberries packaged and frozen and pretty expensive. So, when I saw a giant tub of them on sale at my grocery store this morning for $5, I scooped them up and decided to freeze them myself.

*Rinse your berries and pick over the "bad" mushy gooshy ones. Then lay on a towel to dry. When the berries are dry, place them on a baking sheet covered with a paper towel. Freeze for four hours and then transfer to a resealable freezer bag. Use a drinking straw and such out all of the air form the freezer bag and reseal. Freeze until you need it. Easy.

  1. Hmm, I used to drink a fresh smoothie every day and you're right, I never caught colds then! Need to start doing this again... thanks for the reminder!

P.S. Love your blog header - very pretty!
