New Costume Jewelry

There are going to be three new necklaces added to the shop this week. They are all so sparkly and pretty,  perfect for an evening event or to wear with a feminine lacey top. Oh Delight!

Made it to the front page of etsy again! This time Pete, my husband, was the creator of this piece. I am so proud of him! We actually caught his hand made necklace on the front page on our own logging in! We were dancing and singing around the room!Luckily I found a screen cap of it from [this] Flickr.

Framed Bird!

After much discussion and "debate" [i.e. arguing] Pete and I came up with a collaboration of these images. Sometimes we work together so well, despite my crankiness. He puts up with a lot. :wink: The first image is of a bird silhouette attached to a vintage trifari necklace. The necklace also has 12 beautiful dark blue glass beads. Find it [here]

Pete worked on these new necklaces this week and I am currently photo editing and listing them in funkeyfinds. He found some really interesting old necklaces to thread our wood cut outs on. One is a beautiful old beaded rosary. Its awesome!

More Ideas for Vintage Doilies

Ideas are swirling and more sketches are flowing. I took some photos of my favorite tatting on my vintage doilies. I just adore how romantic they are!

I see some ideas coming to the shop within the next few weeks. I am thinking embroidery, hoops, line drawings. Pete has also been working really hard on the bird silhouette necklaces. He also made some whales and even some mustaches! I can't wait to stock up the shop this weekend!

On anther note, which is also black and white inspired, I am totally smitten with the seller nosideup on etsy. They have some prints in their shop of some really fine and beautiful line drawings. I think I am drawn to these because I adore the simplicity of them, but also the complicated images its makes from simple lines.I also teach my students a lesson [but much less fine art due to the fact that they are in elementary school] like this that teaches line quality. I call it "the bad hair day" and they use repeated lines to create crazy hair. As much as I love my students colorful creations, I like these prints much more. Visit their blog [here]

Vintage Spring Fabric and Birds!

Spring has sprung in the shop! I made these adorable vintage fabric cuttings this morning. There is just something so fresh and therapeutic about cutting and folding fabric. [while having my morning coffee] These cuttings are generous 1 yd x 1 yd of vintage bed sheets. The patterns are so like spring, I can't wait for the weather to turn around!

Pete has also been working very hard this morning on the necklace project. He has been trimming and connecting chains and attaching the birds. [and one whale!] I can't wait to head back to the wood shop tomorrow and make some more bird friends.
These necklaces are made from vintage re-purposed chains and white poplar wood. This wood has been hand cut and sanded into a fine sleek bird silhouette. Nature meets Vintage.
