Recently I read Michael Pollan's book: In Defense of Food. I am really a big fan of what he has simply written: Eat Food, Not too Much, Mostly Plants. It seems so easy and dumb, but really, how many plants did you eat today?

Pete, my husband, and I have been working really hard this summer trying to follow that simple rule. I also like Pollan's theory of eating nothing that "your grandmother wouldn't recognize" and nothing with more than 7 ingredients. I have been reading labels and have become quite appalled at what is really in our foods. I thought his book was a worth while read, it was straight forward and very eye opening.

Speaking of ingredients, Haagen Dazs is promoting their newest product, ice cream with only five ingredients. Well, hello! Should there be anymore than that?! After all, is there nothing better than a scoop of amazingly good vanilla on a summer's evening? If you are going to eat icecream, this is the way to do it.

...now if I could find a sugar cone made without partially hydrogenated soybean oil...
