Attic Hide Away

Attic rooms are not only mysterious and tight, but they feel like they are crammed full of secrets and treasures. I found oodles of them on [pinterest] that were inspiring, so I thought that I would share my own attic hide away.

If this were my home that I owned and not rented, I would love to paint the floor white and the walls something bright. The exposed brick would stay [of course!] and add a dangling lamp above my bed instead of the recessed lighting. I have done well for making it feel like home with my hippo flea market find and a new addition of a red, streamer trunk style, dresser from the thift store. My vintage ceramic tri pod planter also made the cut along with some new artwork in a collage on the wall. In the ceramic vases, ivy cuttings from my last house in Takoma Park.

DIY Wall Idea

I am always looking for new ideas for things to hang on the wall. I see frames in one of my shop, but do you think my walls are properly decorated? Nooo. My goal before the summer ends is to have at least two wall collages put up [one upstairs and one downstairs] and to have at least each room containing one thing on the wall that was not thrown there when we first moved in [because a nail conveniently was hung there].

A little bedroom inspiration...

I found a great photo gallery on Martha Stewart.com about bedroom decorating. I love this blue/aqua oasis one! Its a dream. The lines of the wallpaper headboard are just so unique and inspiring.

I love the sunshine yellow glow to the wooden chair and the great aqua and yellow accents on the bedding. So fresh and clean and there is no frill and no fuss with the window treatment!Another inspiring color pallet! Gray, pink, light green and dark green. This is also another great headboard with amazing lines. This image is from the stenciling pillowcases article. Check out the steps for stenciling [here]Lastly, I love a good wall collage of frames. This one is particularly nice, with both oval and rectangle frames intertwined.

My only extra though, why is marthastewart.com's photo tag so ugly? [see above image] Is is so not a Martha Stewart typeface!
