Vintage Fabric Scraps

Every once in awhile I like to pack up my fabric scraps and sell them in the shop. I just made a lot of vintage linen cocktail and dinner napkins and found that I had a lot of scraps left over. Coming to the shop this afternoon are three [only three!] bundles of vintage scrap fabric. Full of florals and prints, these stacks are incredible!Find them [here]

New Hope

I tried something new today. I gathered my paints and sketch book and a nice fresh piece of wood as a canvas. These fun little triangles began to gather so naturally. The front one it titled: "Hope" as it represents a new beginning for me in 2011. The second one, the pink, orange, and white one is titled: "Kitten Teeth" well, because it looks like kitty teeth. Find them in the shop now.

Christmas Time...is here?

I have been playing around with making some new wreaths this weekend. I had some extra silver tinsel laying around and some wire so I made these. I completed them with a vintage jewelry piece. [salvaged of course!]
They are the perfect size for a small pop of holiday cheer! Find them in the shop this evening.

Scrap Fabric Wreath

I have been busy, busy this weekend making these fun scrap fabric wreaths. I love the simplicity of making them. Cutting the fabrics scraps [which come from vintage men's shirts and old scarves] and knotting them to hand formed wire is very therapeutic. They will be hitting the shop this afternoon.

new frames..

I really got away from painting frames and filling them with vintage children's book illustrations. It requires a lot of patience, waiting for the paint to dry and flipping through countless books to find the "right" image for the frame. I have sold some really lovely ones in the past, but have not had any in the shop in a long time. Here are two from this afternoon.

I have another one for tomorrow, which is still drying. It will be black and filled with a lovely girl on a swing.

This one is made from wood and painted white and sanded for a worn in look. I have this great mod vintage wall paper, two whole huge rolls of it, that I decided to fill it with. I then added a vintage mint green ribbon and it was complete! This one is also available in the shop now.

Clocks..

Kicking around some new ideas for clocks in the shop. I often find the most amazing prints on china and can not justify purchasing them. If I can make them into something though...

New Idea in the Shop

I had a new idea for my frame/vintage illustration shop OliveSomeDay. I often find images that are so unique and beautiful, but do not fit inside one of my vintage frames. I tried last summer mounting these images inside a mat, but no one seemed to want them. So, this summer I came up with the diy wall hanging. Each kit contains at least three images, mounted on card stock, string, hook eyes, and mini clothespins for hanging.
I think it is a great affordable, fun, and fresh way to hang art on your wall!
